Obituary of Guy Douglass
Guy Douglass, a quiet man of few words, devoted in faith and to his family passed away peacefully at the Nashwaak Villa on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. Our Dad lived a full life, rich with the love of family and faith in God. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Flora (Anderson). Born February 19, 1929 to John and Nettie (Pond) Douglass he began life in Red Rock, spent his teen years in Taymouth, and his remaining 40 years called English Settlement home.
He lived for his family, especially his grandchildren. He served his Lord as an Elder at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, the church of his childhood. He enjoyed animals and hobby farming, nature and camping.
Always an entrepreneur he operated his lumbering and trucking company from his early years. His love of working in the woods continued into retirement.
Survived by six daughters, Gail MacFarlane (Derek), Linda Austin (Paul), Cindy Dorcas (Andy), Jocelyn Weston (Norman Trider), Carla Flynn (Gary), Shelley Douglass (Greg Hubbard); grandchildren, Andrew Dorcas (Erin), Shawna Nodwell (Trent), Glenn Austin (Jenn LaBillois), Jamie Dorcas (Shelby McAloon), Jennifer Weston, Hilary Austin, Daniel MacFarlane (Kerry), Marty Weston, Nathan MacFarlane (Natasha Higgins), Gregory Austin (Michelle Lyons), Shannon MacFarlane (Steve Doucette), Clayton Flynn, Gabriel Hubbard; great-grandchildren, Ruthie and Myles Dorcas, Tarren and Torri Nodwell, Bingham Weston, Cole and Lexi Austin, Owen Austin, William MacFarlane with two more great-grandsons expected this fall. Survived by siblings, Eliona, Elizabeth, Donnalene, Stuart and Diane; pre-deceased by siblings, Louis, Johnny, Verona and Jean-Marie.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 6-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, Stanley, NB on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 3 pm with Rev. Lyn Hughes officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
