Obituary of Dean Landers

It is with deep regret and sadness that the family of Dean Gregory Landers announce his passing on June 10, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Dean was born on February 12, 1968 in St. John's, Nfld. He is survived by his wife Kelly, the love of his life and partner in crime. Dean was a devoted and loving father to Grace and Ella, and the cherished son of Ruth (Dingle) and the late Murray Landers. Brother to Shawn (Julie) of Fredericton and Heather of Halifax. An incredible uncle to Matthew, Ian, Brianna and Brandon, Cameron and Abbie. Dean was a second son to his in-laws Jimmie and Loretta Hoffman and beloved brother-in-law to Cori (David) MacLean and Jamie (Courtney) Hoffman, all of Glace Bay. Dean completed his early school years in NS and NB, and graduated from FHS in 1986. While moving often as a "banker's" family was hard, Dean made lasting friendships wherever he went. Upon graduating with his BBA from UNB in 1990, he embarked on a long and successful career with NB Power. While vacationing in Florida, Dean was introduced to the love of his life and never looked back. They began their life together in Fredericton in 1998 and soon welcomed two beautiful girls. As an ever present and doting father to Grace and Ella, Dean could always be found at his daughter’s school events, at the softball field, rink and gym, on the ice and in the stands, as a coach and as a proud father. Dean was an extraordinary man, husband, father, brother and son. We will miss his warm smile, beautiful eyes, gentle way, witty humour, his integrity and his ever thoughtfulness. His personality drew people in. He was always doing for others first. In keeping with Dean's loving and generous spirit, the gift of life was shared with others through organ donation. Kelly and the girls and all of Deans family would like to sincerely thank Kelly's ICU family, and along with DECH staff and physicians. A funeral service to celebrate Dean's life will be held on Tuesday, June 13 at St. Dunstan's Catholic Church at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mental Health through the Chalmers Regional Hospital Foundation. And if I go, while you’re still here… Know that I live on, vibrating to a different measure …behind a thin veil that you cannot see through, You will not see me, so you must have faith. I will wait for the time when we can soar together again, …both aware of each other. Until then, live your life to the fullest. And when you need me, Just whisper my name in your heart, …I will be there.
