Obituary of Stella Keenan
Life Legacy
The passing of Stella Pearl Keenan of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late David James Keenan occurred on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Shannex Parkland Thomas Hall. Born on July 2, 1924 in Stanley, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Agnes (Harvey) Douglass. During war times Mrs. Keenan taught in Rural Schools. She worked as a Kindergarten Teacher in the YMCA daycare for 20 years. Stella was a past member of the Christ Church ACW in Maugerville, NB. She was active at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, in the Anglican Church Guild and was a past member of the 55 Plus Seniors Club and Seniors Bowling.
Stella is survived by her daughter, Darlene Greenbank (Michael) of Fredericton, NB; sons, Walter Keenan (Lucienne) of Burton, NB, Brian Keenan of Oromocto, NB and Royce Keenan (Debbie) of Burton, NB; daughter-in-law, Fay Keenan Mossop of Maugerville, NB; 19 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; sister, Janet Clark of Nashwaaksis, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Donald Keenan; granddaughter, Tracy; great grandsons, Joe and Chevy; great great granddaughter, Harper Mae; sisters, Reba Croll, Ruby Bubar, Edith Boone and Annie Nash; brothers, Earle Douglass, Charles Douglass and Lloyd Douglass.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Church Building Fund.
