Obituary of Irene MacDonald
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Mavis MacDonald at Fredericton, NB. Other than the few years that Mavis lived in London, Ontario, she lived her entire life in Fredericton. She attended the Salvation Army in her young years and played in the S.A. band. Mavis and her husband Eugene enjoyed their trips to Florida, and their summer holidays at the lake. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Mavis is survived by her daughter, Carol Walsh (Leigh) of Mississauga; son, Mark MacDonald (Kelly) of Edmonton; daughter-in-law, Susan Snowdon of Moncton; grandchildren, Kelly, Beth, Dale, Lori and Kimberly; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Johnson (John, dc.) of Ottawa, and Shirley Smith (Lyle) of Fredericton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husbands, Eugene MacDonald and Leonard Snowdon; son, Dale Snowdon; mother, Vivian Lyons (Kelly); father, John Leslie Lyons; two brothers, Jack Lyons and Jim Lyons.
A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on April 28, 2017 at 2 pm, with a short reception to follow. Interment will take place at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. The family would like to express their special thanks to the staff of York Manor.
