Obituary of Edrie Stephens

Edrie Arden Stephens, 97, of Fredericton, NB, formerly of Blackville, NB, passed away at the York Care Centre, Fredericton, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Born on August 3, 1919, Edrie was the youngest daughter of the late Edwin and Prudence (Cusack) Keith of Havelock, NB. A graduate of Robinson Business College, Moncton, Edrie worked as a bookkeeper and secretary in Saint John, prior to her marriage to Harry E. Stephens in 1946. She was active in her church, as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and past president of the ACW. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, quilting and crosswords. Edrie is survived by her sons, Brian (Orma) and Roger (Susan) of Riverview; daughters, Patricia, Sharyn Pope and Nancy of Fredericton; grandchildren, Shawn (Shalla), Julia (Stephen), Sarah, Amy (Josh) and Andrea; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harry (2001); sisters, Blanche Plume, Bernice Seely, Mary Carson, Frances Seely, Myrtle Perry; brothers, Kenneth, Richmond, Raymond, Irwin and Walter. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 24, 2017, from 3-4 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 4 pm with Rev. Canon Kevin Stockall officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery, Blackville, NB, at a later date.
