Obituary of Norton Sweeney
The passing of Norton William Sweeney, husband of Phyllis (Bowser) Sweeney of Durham Bridge, NB occurred on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 12, 1940 in Durham Bridge, Norton was a son of the late Walter and Mary (Gamble) Sweeney. After serving in the army from 1955 to 1967, Norton opened “Sweeney’s Forest and Garden”.
In addition to his wife of almost 56 years, Norton is survived by his daughters, Laura Buell and Bonnie Sweeney; sons, Michael Sweeney (Connie) and David Sweeney (Shelley); grandchildren, Tyler and Maddison; step-grandchildren, Chelsea, Kaylea, Raven, Sandie and Liam; step-great-grandchildren, Abbigayle, Weston, Jackson and Carson; sister, Helen Dawson (Arthur); brothers, Hazen Sweeney (Margaret) and Robert Sweeney; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Mary.
At Norton’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
