Obituary of Michael Estey

It is with profound sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Michael “Mike” Arthur David Estey of Mount Hope, NB, husband, soul mate and best friend of Gail Lynne (MacKinnon) Estey which occurred on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at home. Born on December 6, 1956 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of Julia (Mitchell) Estey and the late Charles Estey. Mike had a green thumb and loved working with his hands. This man will be remembered for his crazy sense of humour and being wonderfully weird. He had an over the top personality and a heart to match. Mike’s goal was to live his life to the fullest, and to create fun memories with us all. He was also wiser than words can describe and did everything to extreme even up to the day he died. He was an amazing “amateur” musician and we were his biggest fans with Gail being the #1 groupie. In addition to his wife and mother, Mike is survived by his daughters, Lindsay Estey-Munoko (Walter), Candice Estey (Reid Camm) and Kendra Estey (Jordie Strohm); grandchildren, Yasmine and Willow; sisters, Sharon Betts (Wendell), Ardith Evans (Phillip) and Carol Estey (Colin Hoyt); brother, Steve Estey (Tammy); several nieces and nephews; also survived by Wendy Estey, mother of his precious babies. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 2 pm with Pastor Jack Leaman officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home out of respect for Gail’s Mom or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
