Obituary of Donald Nash
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we are announcing the passing of Donald Andrew Nash, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather of Fredericton, NB, husband of Joy (McCoy) Nash, which occurred on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Hospice Fredericton. He was born on January 7, 1947 in Fredericton, NB. Donald was a citizen of the Maliseet Nation and a member of St. Mary’s First Nation. He has held several careers over the course of his life, a mason, heavy equipment operator, forester and retired as a foreman with NB Power. He held a chaplaincy position with Bridges of Canada and was an Elder with St. Mary’s First Nation Christian Outreach and worked in several First Nation communities along with prison ministries throughout the Maritimes and Saskatchewan. Donald was an avid snowmobiler, hunter, and a traditional basket weaver.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Nash-McKinley (David) of Fredericton, NB, Connie Nash-MacKay (Mark) of Fredericton, NB and Angela Nash-Landry (Sylvain) of Dieppe, NB; son, Russell Nash (Colette) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Rachel Kaleva (Griffin), Cara Nash, Gabrielle Landry and Nykko Landry; great granddaughter, Madelyn Kaleva; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Chelsey Lynn Marie Nash.
Visitation will take place at Sunset Church on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Sunset Church on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Joseph Beesley officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Aaron McCoy, Ferron McCoy, Shawn McCoy, Andrew Ecker, Griffin Kaleva and Ralph Anderson. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice Fredericton. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
