Obituary of Douglas Ketch
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Douglas Hayward Ketch on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Aroostock, NB, he was the son of the late Amos H. Ketch and P. Eileen (Tatlock) Ketch. Doug was predeceased by his first wife, Helena (Allison) Ketch; two brothers, Ronald and Kenneth; one sister, Helen (Wilfred) Crawford. Doug graduated from UNB-Civil Engineering in 1949 and went to work for the Federal Government in Ottawa as a surveyor. He surveyed in every province but NL. His career spanned 37 years. Doug loved to golf, curl and enjoyed watching his son-in-law, Bob Stephen play football. Bob played centre for the Ottawa Rough Riders for several years back in the 80’s. Doug also loved travelling with his wife Kaye to many exotic and beautiful places.
Doug will be deeply missed by his wife, Kaye (Magoon) Ketch and his five children, Jennifer Stephen of Ottawa, ON, Heather James of Burnaby, BC, David Ketch (Linda) of Fredericton, NB, Brian Ketch (Debbie) of Rothesay, NB and Cynthia McKay (Tony) of Uxbridge, ON. Doug will also be missed by his thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Doug to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
