Obituary of Edress Thomas

The passing of Edress Kate (Biden) Thomas of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Osborne A. Thomas occurred on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Parkland Shannex-Frederick Hall. Born on October 7, 1930 in Stanley, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Eliza Josephine (Foreman) Biden. Edress was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to knit and received ribbons both at the Stanley Fair and the Fredericton Exhibition. She was also an amazing cook and especially famous for her butterscotch pie and divinity fudge. She was a supporter of St. Paul’s and St. Thomas’s churches and the Stanley ACW. As a young woman she worked at McGuire’s Store in Stanley, NB, until her marriage on July 14, 1951, at which time she moved to Cross Creek, NB. In November of 2010, Edress moved to Hoyt, NB, to live with her daughter Janie. From February 2016 to present, she resided at Frederick Hall. Edress is survived by her daughters, Christine Fletcher (Terry) and Janie Slipp (Ronald); sons, Kevin Thomas (Sandra), Holly Thomas (Bonnie) and Robert Thomas (Janice); grandchildren, Anthony Dorcas (Aundrea), Jennifer Fletcher (Dominic), Sara Goguen (Marc), Robyn Slipp, Randi Gordon and Carl Lyons; several great and great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister in law, Linda Thomas. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, baby Olivia, Jane King, Wanda McGathey and Vivian Spurrell; brothers, Douglas Biden and C. William Biden. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Cross Creek, NB on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Bonita LeBlanc officiating. Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Cross Creek, NB. The family wish to extend a thank you to Dr. Cameron and the loving, caring staff at Frederick Hall.
