Obituary of Jeanne O'Brien
The passing of Jeanne Auna O’Brien of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Harold “Bud” O’Brien occurred on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Windsor Court. Born on June 24, 1925 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Doran) Griffith. Jeanne received her early education in Saint John, NB and graduated from Saint Vincent’s Girl High School and is a member of Saint Vincent’s Alumnae. For a period of 15 years she was involved with Meals on Wheels program. She was also an active member of Saint Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church and was a honourary member of the Catholic Women’s League. Jeanne was for many years, an avid bowler with the Seniors Bowling Leaque.
Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth of Ottawa, ON; sons, Michael (Anne) of Fredericton, NB, Patrick (Deborah) of Moncton, NB, Timothy (Joanne Lacey) of Truro, NS and Gary (Marisol) of Nanaimo, BC; grandchildren, Lindsay, Alyssa, Lauren, Maggie, Rachel, Mary, Laura, Mariah, Marlise, Molly, Troy and Rhianna; great grandchildren, Walker and Avrie; sister, Joan Perry (Ronald) of Ottawa, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret and Scholly; brothers, Paul, Patrick, Jack, William, Stephen, Morris, Gordon and David.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11 am with Father Martin Arputham as celebrant. A reception will follow. Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
