Obituary of Florence Evans

The passing of Florence (Moran) Evans of Taymouth, NB, wife of the late Arthur Evans, occurred on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Parkland Shannex-Frederick Hall, Fredericton, NB. Born on January 2, 1923 in Zionville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Hazel (Gallagher) Moran. In addition to operating Evans' General Store for 14 years, Florence was a volunteer with Saint John Ambulance in Stanley and loved to play bingo. She helped raise five of her grandchildren by babysitting so they could come home after school. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Greene (Glen) of Fredericton, NB, Linda Stewart (David) of Taymouth, NB and Judy Underhill (Wavell) of Taymouth, NB; sons, Edward Evans (Sandie) of Fredericton, NB, Stephen Evans (Marilyn) of Taymouth, NB and Daniel Evans (Geraldine) of Taymouth, NB; brother, Garnet Moran of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Robert, Lisa, Paula, Ruth, Patrick, Jessica, Grant, Pamela, Ian, Melissa and Ellen; 18 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and special friend, Edna Peterson of McGivney, NB. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur in 1988, second husband, Louis Douglass; son, David Evans; grandson, Evan Underhill; brother, Arthur Moran; sisters, Agnus Benoit, Nellie Wyton, Ruby Phillips, Mary Somerville and Irene McNeil; daughter-in-law, Debbie Evans; sons-in-law, Paul O’Leary and Paul McConnell. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at the Taymouth United Church on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Yvette Swan officiating. Interment will take place in the Taymouth Community Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Fredericton SPCA, Canadian Mental Health Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
