Obituary of Kathleen Robinson

It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of our mother, Kathleen Reta Agnes Robinson (nee Heenan) who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, February 18, 2016. Of Irish descent, Kathleen was born on June 25, 1926, the daughter of Albert Heenan and Agnes ( Burns ) Heenan. Kathleen is survived by two daughters, Anna Marie Robinson ( Darryl Nason ) of Douglas, Heather Jane Doherty of Fredericton and one son William Robinson ( Shelley) of Eastern Passage, NS; grandchildren Brandon and Conor Doherty, Benjamin Frederick and Emma Rose Robinson, several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Joan Heenan, and special friends Elizabeth (Betty) Russell and Jeff Burkard. Predeceased by her son Frederick, husband Fred, sisters Isabel Worrell, Dorothy Alexander, Rose Marie Heenan and brother Francis Heenan. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Kathleen was not a working mother, she was a mum who worked. She loved her children and their families. She was employed several years by the New Brunswick government. The majority of her professional life, she dedicated her energy to running A.W. Robinson and Son Ltd. in Fredericton Junction, as its co-owner. Those who knew her appreciated her gentle nature, her kind sense of humour, her interest in people and her ability to enjoy life. She had remarkable intelligence. Kathleen enjoyed travelling throughout Canada and the United States but her favourite place to visit was Ireland. In later years, she enjoyed playing cards, BINGO, reading, doing crossword puzzles and keeping up on world news, local events and updates from the Jct. She loved living in her granny suite and sharing the richness of life with Anna Marie and Darryl, being close to Heather and her family, and visits from Bill and his family. Her children will forever value her unconventional wisdom, the warmth in her smile, the way she waved goodbye from the window, and the sounds of Irish music on the record player. On occasion she liked scratch tickets, and strawberry cake. She treasured Dr. John Richardson for his care and kindness of forty years. The family are thankful for his attention. Honouring Kathleen’s wishes, there will be a private family gathering to celebrate her life. There will be no visitation or public service; condolences may be offered through York Funeral Home.
