Obituary of Terry McKinney
Life Legacy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Dean McKinney, at home on Thursday, February 4, 2016 after a battle with cancer. He was born on October 10, 1947 in Woodstock, NB. He originally hales from Oak Mountain, NB but lived most of his life in the Fredericton and Hanwell area. Terry was well liked and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a lover of Bluegrass music and was a long time member of the Fredericton Bluegrass and Oldtime Music Association, and also the Antique Car Club. Terry was very handy and often had projects on the go. He worked for 35 years as a diesel-generator mechanic for Cummins Eastern Canada Ltd, where he was known as “Tinker”.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Brenda; his daughters, Shelley McKinney and Melissa McKinney (Joey Maher); grandsons, Jacob Warman and Owen Warman; brother, Richard McKinney (Leah Jameson); sisters, Sheila McKinney-Jagoe (Chester), Judy McKinney (Andre Faust), Marilyn McKinney (Liz Cherry), Cathy Douthwright (Brian) and Paulette Foreman (Bob); step mother, Grace McKinney; several nieces, nephews and a large extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles. In addition to his parents, Joseph McKinney and Elsie (Hugh) Barker, he was predeceased by his brother, Carl McKinney.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Franklin Curtis officiating. Interment will take place in Oak Mountain Cemetery, Oak Mountain, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Canadian Cancer Society. The family wish to express their gratitude to his sister, Marilyn and Extra Mural for their compassionate care and kindness that was given to Terry.
