Obituary of Monica Wood

The sudden passing of Monica Jean Wood of Storeytown, NB, occurred at home on Thursday, December 17, 2015. Born on October 18, 1979 in Fredericton, NB, she was a daughter of Joyce Williams and the late John Wood; special step-daughter to Joey Poirier "Papa Joe". Monica was a loving mother, sister, daughter and friend. She enjoyed spending her time working with Timmy and was heavily involved in all aspects of her daughter’s life. In addition to her mother, Monica is survived by her common-law spouse, Timmy Cowie, along with step-daughters Hannah and Olivia; daughter, Shanaya Wood "Punk"; chosen daughters, Darienne Beek and Kayla Collins; step father, Darrell Hazlett; sister, Lori Wood (Shawn), daughter Stephanie and grand daughter Gracie; brothers, Andy Tommy (Kristy Kelly), their children Jessica, Mikel and Hunter Tommy, Tyler and Tara Kelly; Geoffrey Tommy (Michelle), their children Kristen and Kaitlin; Mark Wood (Wanda), their children Robin, Aron and Matthew; Eddie Wood; and Steven Wood, his children Steven Jr., Serena and Cody; step sister, Jenn (Hazlett) Jarvais; step brothers, Todd and Trevor Hachey; her grandmother, Jean Williams; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides her father, Monica was predeceased by her grandfather, Gilbert Williams and grandmother, Bessie Wood. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Wayne Flowers officiating. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date.
