Obituary of Beatrice Hawkins

The passing of Beatrice Violet (Trefry) Hawkins, wife of the late Claude Hawkins of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 2, 1919 in McAdam, NB, she was a daughter of the late Meade and Annie (McElwan) Trefry. Beatrice worked at the ABC Store. She was a member of Douglas Baptist Church and the Mic Mac Trailer Club. Beatrice is survived by her children, Sharon Ames of Fredericton, NB, Judi Millard (Mike) of Victoria, BC and Lowell Hawkins (Jan) of Tillsonburg, ON; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn Brewer; sister, Enola Grieves; brother, Elmer Trefry; son in law Michael Ames and grandson in law Sylvio Saulnier. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, June 8, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Douglas Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Moore officiating. Honourary Pallbearers will be Glen Corey, Timothy Brewer, Chris Brewer and Michael Ames. Interment will take place at Douglas Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Douglas Baptist Church, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
