Obituary of Jerry Dorcas

The passing of Jerry Eldon Dorcas of Stanley, NB, husband of Francine (Leger) Dorcas, occurred Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 10, 1939 in Williamsburg, NB, he was the son of the late Raymond and Bertha (Jeffrey) Dorcas. Jerry retired as Manager of the Apprenticeship and Certification Program with the Province of New Brunswick and was the owner of the Dorcas Raspberry Farm. In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his daughter, Misty Dorcas of Edmonton, AB; step daughters, Pierrette Kavanagh and Monique Dunlap (Greg) of New Maryland, NB; his sons, Troy and Scott Dorcas, both of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Megan, Emily, Owen, Jennie and Ben; sister, Betty Fitzgerald (Jim) of London, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jerry is predeceased by his brother, Walter Dorcas. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 3 pm with Wally Ellis (DLM) officiating and Rev. Gordon Mowry assisting. Interment will take place in Williamsburg Community Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
