Obituary of William O'Donnell
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William “Billie” Addison Handley O’Donnell, husband of Martha “Sis” O’Donnell, on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home. Billie was born on October 23, 1935 in McNamee, NB.
Billie worked many years as a bus driver, truck driver, mechanic’s helper, logger, wood cutter and fishing guide. After retiring in 2000, he continued to cut wood, guide and work in his large garden. Billie was a member of St. James the Greater Anglican Church. He enjoyed hockey, crib, fiddleheading and spending time with family and friends. Billie will be remembered for his quick wit, conversation skills and willingness to always offer a helping hand.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, Billie is survived by daughters, Dawn (Caleb Dickson), Daphne (Mark Cogswell); sons, Lyndon (Laurie Gaudet) and Ledwick; grandchildren, Justin, Emily, Addyson and Zarya; step-grandsons, Forest and Ashton; sister, Mabel; brother, Gilbert (Carol); several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mae; sisters, Elmina, Mildred “Millie”, Doris “Dee Dee”; brother, Eric; father and mother-in-law, Perley and Lea.
Visitation will take place at St. James the Greater Anglican Church, Ludlow, NB on Monday, March 2 , 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from St. James the Greater Anglican Church on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Brian Spence officiating. Interment will be at the St. John’s Anglican Cemetery in Carroll’s Crossing, NB at a later date. Billie’s family would like to express gratitude to his homemakers and to the staff of the Central NB Nursing Home who demonstrated such kindness and compassion during Billie’s final days. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. James Anglican Church, Alzheimer Society or charity of the donor’s choice.
