Obituary of Wilbur Thomas

The passing of Wilbur Earl Thomas of Fredericton, NB, husband of Greta (Merrill) Thomas occurred on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 20, 1925 in Woodlands, NB, he was the son of the late James and Lena (Steen) Thomas. Prior to Wilbur’s retirement with the Department of Transportation, he worked with Miles Tire for 28 years. He was a member of Nashwaaksis United Church. Wilbur was an outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed telling tall tales, going to social events and traveling. Wilbur loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Wilbur is survived by his two sons, Keith Thomas (Carla) of Balzac, AB and Wayne Thomas (Eleanor) of Maugerville, NB; grandchildren, Jamie Thomas, Amanda Maillet (Ben), Michelle Thomas, Chase Thomas, Colton Thomas, Colby Mohr, Codi Hewlett, Chet Hewlett, Jason Thomas (Melanie), Geoffrey Thomas (Krista) and Tommy Thomas; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Wilbur was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Viola and Faye; brothers, Bill and Carl. There will be no services by Wilbur’s request. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the New Brunswick Wildlife Federation.
