Obituary of Joan Whelpley

The passing of Joan Emily Whelpley of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born on May 8, 1923 in Swindon, England, she was the daughter of the late James and Emily (Billett) Tuck. Joan worked as a seamstress, was a member of the Fredericton Garden Club, an Honourary Lifetime member of the Fredericton Quilters Guild, and the Nashwaaksis 55+ Club. Joan also enjoyed bowling. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her son, William “Bill” Whelpley. Although there will be no visitation by request, a Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating with a reception to follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Trinity Cemetery, Sussex Corner, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Hospice – Hospice House or the charity of the donor’s choice.
