Obituary of Steven Jones
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Steven Wilfred Jones of Fredericton, NB at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 5, 2013 with his wife Lorraine and only daughter, Wendy by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Wilfred and Marguerite (White) Jones, born in Devon on February 15, 1945 (“39 forever”). Steven’s passion in life was spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, spending time at his camp on Dorn Ridge and time with family; when he could combine all of these, he was a happy man. Steven was a self-employed trucker, hauling garbage for most of his life, retiring with his wife in December, 2002.
Steven was always the first to offer a hand but last to accept help from others. He never believed in idle hands and was happiest when “tinkering” with something. He was a jack of all trades. He liked working on his own vehicles and doing a little carpenter work. He had a great imagination and often dreamt up something comical and would weld it up. He always had to be busy doing something. He will be truly missed by those who knew him.
Steven leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Lorraine (Murray); his daughter, Wendy Ebbett (Todd); two cherished grandsons, Ryan and Mitchel Ebbett; sister, Karlene Jones of Fredericton; brother, Sam Jones of Ontario; nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Jason Jones.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Gordon MacDonald and Theresa; the staff of 3SE and 4SE for their compassionate care of Steven and his family.
In keeping with Steven’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a donation in Steven’s memory, the Environmental Trust Fund, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice. York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB is entrusted with the arrangement. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
