Obituary of Jean Edney
The passing of Jean Helen (Somerville) Edney, of Taymouth, NB, wife of the late A. Keith Edney, occurred on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 3, 1917 in Taymouth, NB, she was a daughter of the late James T. and Christine (Barton) Somerville. Jean was a member of the United Church Women and the LOBA. She was a great quilter and a wonderful cook.
She is survived by daughters, Ruth Lawrence (Laurel) of Fredericton, NB, Elizabeth Nicholls (Robert) of Hemmingford, QC, Marion Warman (Gordon) of Grenfell, SK, Vera Coy (Richard) of Taymouth, NB and Viola Edney (Phillip Brewer) of Penniac, NB; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; nieces, Jean Wall and Dorothy May; several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her daughter, Jennie Edney; son, Frederick J. Edney; sisters, Viola Whidden, Georgina Stewart, Ethel Van Horne and Dorothy VanHorne and brothers, Neil and Vincent.
Although there will be no Funeral Service, there will be a Visitation at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 2-4 pm. Interment will follow at Taymouth Community Cemetery, Taymouth, NB with Mr. Wally Ellis (DLM) officiating. A reception will take place at Jean’s home following the interment. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Chalmers Foundation Palliative Care Unit or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
