Obituary of Norma May Brewer

The passing of Norma May (Dorcas) Brewer, of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Budd William Brewer, occurred on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 20, 1925 in Williamsburg, NB, she was a daughter of the late William “Will” and Viola (Gallagher) Dorcas. Norma retired as owner and operator of Brewers Fashions. She was a life member of Nashwaaksis United Church, Fredericton, NB. Norma is survived by her daughter, Heather Elizabeth Demont (Joe) of Sherwood Park, AB; two sons, Neil William (Helena) and Earl Albert Brewer (Sandy) both of Fredericton, NB; seven grandchildren, Norine McGinn (Tom), Mary Brewer (Patrick), Tanya Gaudet (Pierre), Melissa Bryden (Peter), Patrice Hawkes (Serge), Alayna McGillvary (Andrew) and their father, Gary Hawkes and Natalie Harris; 14 great grandchildren, Sammy, Allie and Christopher, Jacob and Joey, Nicholas and Jean Marc, Campbell, Tyler and Dylan, William and Brayden, Tyson and Rachel; two sisters, Hazel Dorcas of Lower St. Mary’s, NB and Maxine Merrill (Elwood) of Charters Settlement, NB; one brother, Albert Dorcas (Avis) of Cross Creek, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Neil Jr.; Mary Scholten Brewer; sister, Eileen Mersereau; brothers-in-law, Richard Mersereau and Irvine Dorcas. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Nashwaaksis United Church on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. J.D. Kennedy officiating. Interment will take place in Williamsburg Community Cemetery.
