Obituary of Allan Nicholson

The passing of Allan “Al” Russell Nicholson, husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Finnamore) occurred on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his home in Fredericton, NB. Born on July 28, 1933 in Birdton, NB, he was the son of the late George and Grace (Brown) Nicholson. Before Al retired from NB Power, he worked with the Daily Gleaner for 27 years. He was a member of the Journey Wesleyan Church and was active with the “Nifty Under 50” seniors group. In addition to his wife, Al is survived by two sons, Rick Nicholson (Rhonda) of Moncton, NB and Randy Nicholson (Tanya) of Fredericton, NB; four grandchildren, Brittany, Matt, Lauren and Mike Nicholson; great grandson, Karson; several nieces and nephews and was the last surviving member of his family. Besides his parents, Al was predeceased by his siblings, Bill Nicholson, Dora Saunders, Viola Stewart, Nina Scribner and Merle Nicholson. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Journey Wesleyan Church, 131 Duncan Lane, Fredericton, NB from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at the Journey Wesleyan Church on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 2 pm with Pastor Matthew Maxwell officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at the Upper Marysville United Baptist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
