Obituary of Edna Carrier

The passing of Marie Bernadette Edna “Daisy” Carrier, of Tay Creek, NB, wife of the late Joseph Oswald Carrier, occurred on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 3, 1933 in Lorne, NB, the eldest of a large and close knit Irish family, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Bernadette (Hickey) O’Brien. She was an excellent seamstress and knitter. She enjoyed knitting socks and mittens for neighborhood children. She was generous to a fault toward her children and grandchildren, to whom she was very devoted. She loved music and listening to her husband of 61 years playing the fiddle. She also loved the family kitchen parties when they visited the North Shore relatives. Edna was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Tay Creek. Edna is survived by her children, Daryl Carrier (Brenda) of Cross Creek, NB, Marlene Carrier of Stanley, NB and Karen Weagle (Stephen) of Tequesta, FL; grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Carrier; sisters, Doris Carrier of Lorne, NB, Darlene Godin (Donald) of Lorne, NB, Agnes Bolton (Cameron) of Cambridge, ON and Doreen O’Brien (Kenneth Godin) of Lorne, NB; brothers, Elzear (Claudette) of Lorne, NB, Wayne of Campbellton, NB, Dale (Virginie), Mark (Dorothy) O’Brien and Romeo, all of Lorne, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her closest sister and friend, Barbara (Hubert) LaPointe and her brother, Alphee O’Brien (Vivian de. Lanteigne). Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Stanley, NB on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 12 pm with Father Michael McGowan as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Tay Creek, NB. In lieu of flowers, family flowers only, donations made to St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
