Obituary of George Merrithew
The passing of George William “Billy” Merrithew of Fredericton, NB, occurred unexpectedly of natural causes, on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 10, 1954, he was the son George Nelson Merrithew and the late Phyllis Gertrude (Edmondson) Merrithew. He worked at various car dealerships and grew a love of cars, building, restoring, racing, and for 27 years, installed water pumps. His real passions were drag racing, four-wheeling and snow-mobiling fun with his brothers and friends.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his siblings, Nancy (Vic) Stitham, Faye (Peter) Walker, Ron (Sue) Merrithew, John (Sara) Merrithew, Phyllis (Ralph Jr.) Turnbull, Angel (Ken) Hughson and Jane (Wesley) Shepard; several nieces and nephews. Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will take place at the Douglas Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at the Douglas Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11 am with Rev. Peter Moore officiating. Pallbearers will be Alex Shepard, Scott Merrithew, Zack Turnbull, Randy Merrithew, Mike Crouse and Mark Ebbett. Interment will take place at Dayton Cemetery.
