Obituary of Barry Schriver

Barry D. Schriver of Fredericton, NB, husband of Grace (Lint) Schriver passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 16, 1927 in Maugerville, NB, he was the son of the late Hiram J. and Lela (Durling) Schriver. Barry was a Veteran of WWII; he served as a Private in Carleton York II Battalion, Reg – G8836. He worked as an Office Clerk for NB Power. Barry was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing, he also was an avid Boston Red Socks fan. Barry underwent many medical treatments during his life journey demonstrating remarkable emotional and physical resilience. Throughout he maintained his natural grace, optimism and above all else his faith and concern for others. Barry was most grateful for the richness of his life, especially the opportunity to spend time with his children and their families. He was blessed with many friends from his church and neighborhood. In addition to his wife of 67 years, Barry is survived by his children, Robert Schriver (Wanda) and John D. Schriver (Shirley) and Carol MacDonald (David); five grandchildren, Derek Schriver (Kerri), Tara Stewart (Matt), Darren Schriver (Sherry), Gregory MacDonald (Adele Savoie) and Tami VanSchoppen (Peter); great grandchildren, twins Isaiah and Michaela Schriver, Tyson Stewart, Emma Van Schoppen and Jayden Schriver; brother, Maynard Schriver (Donna); several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Evelyn Schriver and Jean Porter; brothers, Irvine Schriver, Bill Schriver, Ken Schriver, Earl Schriver, Stan Schriver, Melbourne Schriver and Alton Schriver. Although there will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will take place at Cross Point Wesleyan Church on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Conard Symonds and Rev. Mark Brewer officiating. Interment will take place in Olivet Wesleyan Cemetery.
