Reid, James "Jim" Robert

The passing of James "Jim" Robert Reid of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Laura Ann (Hickey) Reid, occurred on January 13, 2025 at Hospice House in Fredericton. Born on February 2, 1946, Jim grew up in Gagetown, NB. He was the son of the late Roberta (Smith) and Harry Reid.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Natalie Taggart (Derek) of Fredericton; grandchildren, Reid and Craig Taggart; sister, Ann Armstrong (Gerald) of Cameron, Ontario; brother, Philip Reid of Gagetown; sister-in-law, Elaine Reid of Gagetown; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Laura Ann (Hickey) Reid and brother, Richard Reid (Elaine) of Gagetown, NB.

Jim spent his career as a junior high school teacher specializing in grade 7 English. He taught the first 7 years of his career at Barkers Point before moving to George St. Junior High where he taught for 25 years before retiring. His dry wit and quick sarcasm kept co-workers, students, friends and family on their toes.

The family of Jim would like to sincerely thank the staff of Hospice House in Fredericton, the staff with the Extra-Mural Program, Dr. Jonathan Jean and Palliative Care doctors for treating Jim and his loved ones like family. It was truly appreciated and we will be forever grateful.

At the family’s request there will be no services. A private graveside service will take place in the St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice House Fredericton, the Extra-Mural Program, or Palliative Care. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
