MARION ISABELLA ALLEN

 

DECEMBER 8, 1938 - JANUARY 7, 2025

 

 It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Marion Isabella Allen (nee Norquay), wife of the late Royden Allen at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital at the age of 86 on January 7, 2025.

 

Born in Jewetts Mills, NB on December 8, 1938 she was the daughter of the late William “Billy” Norquay and the late Ellen Norquay (nee Gordon). Mum was a Telephone Operator in her early years then becoming a mother and devoted farmer's wife and homemaker. She loved, bowling, playing cribbage (especially with her good friend the late Carol Buckley), putting puzzles together, watching baseball and hockey, Wednesday ladies morning out, going for drives, and talking to her friends and family on the telephone.

 

Mum is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Allen, Janice Allen-Scott (David), both of Scotch Settlement; sons, Dwight Allen of Tripp Settlement, and Loren Allen (Traci) of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland; son-in-law, Lewis Mitchell of Tower Hill; grandchildren, Christy Valyear, Alison Mitchell, Seth Staples-Allen, Hannah Page, and Mason Allen; step-grandson, Nick Ball; great-grandchildren, Tyler Valyear, Zoe Sexton, and Brady Gardiner.; one sister, Bernice Ripley; brother-in-law, Garnet Allen (Sharon); one sister-in-law, Nancy Norquay; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She is predeceased by husband, Royden Allen and daughter Darlene Mitchell; sister, Helen Merrithew; brother, John Norquay; as well as parents, William “Billy” and Ellen Norquay.

 

Mum also had a special fondness for her homemaker, Martina whom she loved dearly.

 

Funeral will take place at York Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Rev. George Clark officiating. There will be a reception in the Fireside Room following the service. Internment will take place in the Scotch Settlement Cemetery in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Diabetes Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, Scotch Settlement Union Church, Scotch Settlement Cemetery, or any other charity of the donor's choice.
