Obituary of Donald Albert Rideout

Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Albert “Don” Rideout, a shining soul who graced this world with his infectious smile and kind spirit. Born on January 24th, 1936 in the quaint town of Grand Falls, Don brought warmth and joy to everyone he encountered. His journey came to a peaceful end on December 18, 2024 at the age 88 at Neil Hall, Shannex Nursing Home .

Don grew up in Grand Falls N.B and moved to Fredericton to attend college and later worked for the Department of Transportation for 32 years as a draftsman. A kind, generous and gentle man, who loved people, forever young at heart, he will be greatly missed by those that knew him. His "cottage" that he designed and built himself was "a little piece of Heaven" where he would happily spend his days tinkering in his garage and firing up his steam engine and collecting antiques.

Don is survived by his daughter and son, Jennifer, of Gatineau, Quebec. and Eric of Fredericton, NB, former wife, Joanne (MacPherson), grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Madison and Morgan, great grandchildren, Addison, Sally, Kaidan and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank Henry and Mary Olivia (Hitchcock) Rideout.  he was predeceased by three sisters: Elizabeth, Mary Emily, Roberta Rideout, and seven brothers: Ernest Everleigh, Walker Henry, Samuel, Hallam Herbert, Hurlow Randolph, Frank Clayton, and David Arthur.

In keeping with Don’s wishes there will be no funeral services. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Alzheimer’s Society. Personal condolences and tributes may be offered through www.yorkfh.com. At a later time he will be interred at the Ortonville Baptist Church Cemetery, Victoria County, NB.
