Ann was one of the special moms that lived around our block as we were growing up. She was the one who most regularly allowed 6 rambunctious girls to come inside to play on rainy days! She even put up with our band practices in Janet’s room because one day “The Pencils and Pens” were going to make it big! She let us use her kitchen for homemade pizza parties. Inspected our self made teepees before we slept out in them overnight. Let us use her shed for summer libraries and roam their land we called “the woods” to play neighborhood games.
Ann maintained a keen interest in all of our lives. It was a pleasure to visit with her long after my own mother passed. Once, while we were sharing, she said the most profound thing - that death is as miraculous as birth, that endings are as important as beginnings.
My mother considered Ann a “sister”. Today I’m sure they are enjoying a good long visit. And I know we shall meet again on the other side.
It has been a blessing to have Ann’s watchful eye over us and her kind heart yearning to hear our news. Some people’s love is just always felt.
