Obituary of David Sandy Jenkins

The passing of David Sandy Jenkins, husband of Artice (Wallace, Doherty) Jenkins of Waasis, NB, occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024 at the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton following a prolonged battle with progressive supranuclear palsy.  Born on November 28, 1946 in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Donald and Mary (Saunders).  David was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 26 years. After retiring from the military, he drove the customer shuttle for Fredericton Honda.

In addition to his loving wife, David is survived by his children, Shawn Jenkins (Cindy), Dawn Raymond (Sam), Darren Jenkins (Danielle); step-sons, Randy Doherty (Barb), Rodney Doherty, Robie Doherty; grandchildren, Vincent Raymond, Trina Vantassel (Jessie), Megan Jenkins, Shane Doherty, Amanda (Dan) Cote, Katlyn (Josh) MacNeill, Madison Doherty; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Mason, Aubree, Benjamin, Zoey and Nora; sister in law, Eva Stewart.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Donna Jenkins; siblings, Gordon (Flora) Jenkins, Grace Morgan, Bob Barkley.

A Graveside Service will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 3 pm with Rev. Peter Moore officiating. Pallbearers will be Shawn Jenkins, Darren Jenkins, Jessie Vantassel, Fred Jenkins, John Darling and Russ Bennett. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Veterans Unit for their compassionate care during David's stay.
