My deepest condolences to Dick's family on his passing. As both a neighbor for many years and a work colleague, I enjoyed my many chats with Dick, either at office meetings or over the fence between our two properties. With his wonderful sense of humour and his witty stories I always found his perspective on the events of the day to be entertaining and insightful. His long dedication to the public service and the Province of NB was a great example for all to follow.

Dear Kristin and Karen
We were out of province and unfortunately didn’t learn of your father’s death until last evening.
To say we were shocked is an understatement.
Your dad was a true gentleman, always kind, always funny and very humble. He had a gift for “putting you at ease” with his gentle way.
Together with your mother, they were a wonderful team. May the knowledge that you had two stellar parents help you to process their loss. They made our community a better place and will be greatly missed.
With our sincerest sympathy,
Cousin Mike ( Kim) and Paula

Our sincere condolences to Dick’s family and friends. We have so many happy memories of both Dick and Pat at their cottage at Grand Lake. We will miss seeing Dick volunteering cooking breakfasts at the Jemseg Farmer’s market and on his golf cart visiting each and every one of us along our lane during our summers there.

To Dick’s extended family,
New Brunswick is better because Dick Burgess was focused on making NB better. I knew Dick at GNB where our paths crossed —- I worked at NBDOT for 35 years.
I knew Patty in Campbellton where she was a friend of my sisters during our school years.
May your memories of great times together comfort you now and in the future.
Condolences to you all.

I have fond memories of playing with cousin Dick and First Nation kids next door to Grampie Kimball's in Oromocto. In later years we would watch hockey together in Fredericton and share a beer. Somethings cousins do together will remain unsaid, but I will carry them with me. Visiting Dick and family at his cottage on the lake was always a great time. I'll miss his phone calls and his laugh.
My heartfelt condolences goes to Kristin and family and Karen.

Dick was always a wonderful neighbour and friend. He could definitely be counted on to report to us about the crazy parties our children had when we left them alone for a weekend. What chuckles we had! He drove our niece to the hospital when she was in labour and no one else was around. (He had to remain with her until her husband arrived 2 hours later.) He would knock on our door at 3:00 a.m. on New Year's Eve/Day to encourage us to get up and celebrate life (regardless of what state we were in!). He helped to build the fence around our property. He was just so kind and thoughtful. He was a man of few words, but that deep laugh was infectious. We will cherish these memories forever.
Sincere condolences Kristen and Karen,
The Bagloles

To Kristin and Karen, our condolences to you on the passing of your Dad. Your grandmother Helen and our late Mum Irene (Kimball) Hayward we’re cousins. He spent somewhat of time as a boy at our mother’s family home, and our aunt Joyce (Kimball) Lewis has fond memories of making cookies with him when he was little. I (Elizabeth) also got to know Dick through my time in the provincial civil service and he was known for his affability. His passing marks the end of an era of sorts, but the memories will live on. With sincere sympathy, Katherine and Elizabeth Hayward

I was very sorry to learn of Dick's passing. Dick and I were good friends during our high school and early university days. We were fortunate not to have been caught (more often than we were) doing pranks and the like that were typical of those days! Dick was a good friend, fun, a solid citizen and a person of character. We lost touch after I moved away to various locations across the country. Sincere condolences to his family on his passing. I will remember my times with Dick fondly.

Condolences to Dick’s family, friends, acquaintances and colleagues. I had the privilege of working with Dick when he was an ADM with Business NB and I was the Deputy Minister. He had a brilliant business mind and exceptional financial acumen. I leaned on him heavily for advice in terms of financial support for industry. He made it look easy when it was not and made me look good, a hard job most days. So sorry to learn of his passing and may the memories of wonderful days gone by comfort his family in this time of grief.

Our sincere condolences on the passing of your Dad and grampa. Our friendship with the Burgess family goes back to UNB
days. We enjoyed many adventures and lots of laughs with Dick & Pat both in Ontario and on our trips to N.B. We were always welcomed at the house and the camp with good food and good times.
Dick loved his family unconditionally and will now be reunited with Pat. We know they will be looking down on us and smiling.
Unfortunately we are unable to attend the service but will thinking of all of you on Saturday.
