Obituary of George Alexander Thompson
We are saddened to announce the passing of George A. Thompson at York Care on September 9, 2024. He was born in Chipman (Bronson), New Brunswick on February 6. 1939 and has gone to be with the Lord and loving wife Donna Thompson.
He is survived by son, Tim Thompson (Wife Lorna) and daughter, Heather Thompson (Husband Mike Coles). Sisters, Evangelyne (Gus) Neilson; Geraldine (Rick) Storey and Joan (Darrell) Hood. Granddaughters Meghan and Kate Thompson; and his great-grandchildren Jason Rice and Zaiah Brana.
George is predeceased by his wife Donna (Clarke) Thompson. Along with his sisters Lolita Little and Betty Thompson.
He was a proud and devoted member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 65 years. George worked at Willet Fruit for 30 years. After his retirement, he loved working as a handyman at Northside Day Care where he was called Mr. George, and at the Day Care beside the church where he was loved by all the children.
Visitation will take place at the Calvary Baptist Church, 845 Regent Street, Fredericton, New Brunswick on Thursday, September 12th, 2024 from 12 to 2 PM; followed by a service at 2 PM. With Pastor Matt Silver officiating. A reception will follow the service downstairs at the church. Interment will take place at the Keswick Cemetery on Friday, September 13th, 2024 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Keswick Cemetery.
The family would like to thank staff of Birch Grove and Dixon Lodge of York Care for the excellent care given to George.
