Q: What will you never forget about Hazel?
A: We will never forget all the Sunday dinners Hazel hosted for our family. We will never forget her calming presence in her home. As children spending time at her home with our family you would never guess she was a very busy mother and wife with so many other responsibilities weighing on her. We will never forgot how she had the time and energy to host such beautiful meals week after week for another 5 people. We will never forget her love for her dog Mackie. We will never forgot her love and support for our mother as she navigated a very difficult time in her life.
With love,
Susan Parsons and Amanda Steeves on behalf of Mary Ellis (Henry)

Q: What 3 words best describe Hazel and why?
A: Dorothy, Hazel and I became roommates after our "probie" days in the SJGH School of Nursing in 1953. We shared our laughter and tears for the next two and a half years as we shared the experiences of learning and discipline required to become nurses under the watchful eye and high standards of Miss Stephenson and all her Instructors. We were so thrilled to be together and finally be RN's!
Our friendship continued through the years of raising families, and we visited as often as we could.
A highlight for me was that Hazel always came down to Saint John for our Nursing reunions, and we had a time of catching up on events in our lives.
I will always treasure her friendship as one of the best
I have been privileged to have. Heaven will be sweeter with her there.

On behalf of the entire family of Shirley Porter and the late Frank Porter, we wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and extended family of this beautiful soul….Hazel Inman…if you mention that name to anyone blessed to have known this amazing woman you will recieve in return thoughts and expressions of adoration for Hazel’s remarkable gifts as a tremendous friend and loving host. As young boys we were often guests at Paul and Hazel’s table and in those years remember being amazed at Hazels capacity to put on a fantastic Sunday dinner for a huge crowd that included her own large family and often saw two or even three more families partaking besides!
Hazel was a gift from God, she was filled with the spirit and passionately served others in ways seldom seen in the world today. Those who knew her will never ever forget the impact she had on our lives, we won’t forget the joy of hearing the words “we’re going to Paul and Hazels” and all that it meant. A slight step in their door post Sunday service brought to the senses the aromas of an incredible roast turkey dinner cooked with magnificent care which was often followed by chocolate covered vanilla ice cream balls smothered in warm chocolate sauce….and yes, it was as euphoric as it sounds. In life you might meet people that give a great deal, Hazel, gave in ways that exceed common generosity, Hazel gave of herself….unceasingly, and she always did so with a glowing smile and very often with warm hugs. You were always at home at Paul and Hazels, a couple who will forever be remembered for epitomizing selfless giving.
Thank you Hazel for everything you have been to countless people in your community, your love and commitment to your family and friends will never ever be forgotten….and with all of it we are absolutely certain you’ve heard the words straight from the one who loves us most “well done, thou good and faithful servant…”
Love to you all, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

A sister is a unique blessing that will last forever. I loved my sister dearly and had so much admiration for her. I was the youngest and she the oldest in our close family and I looked up to her. She was like a second mother to me.. I guess she had nursing instincts way back then, because if I got sick, she always seemed to know what to do. I remember vividly her reading me bedtime stories, and especially at Christmas, every year, reading me the story of Christmas. When she decided to become a nurse, nothing would stop her. Because we didn’t have high school available at that time, that didn’t stop her. She took correspondence courses to fulfill her dream.
I remember vividly a week visit with her one summer in St. John when I was 15 and had a huge crush on Elvis. I had his first album and I played it over and over at her apartment. She must have been sick of hearing it, but never complained. I couldn’t have asked for a better sister. She was a wonderful, caring person. She was always there when I needed her. Such a beautiful soul.
A couple of years later, she married Paul, and chose me as her maid of honour. I was thrilled. The following year I moved to Ontario and we didn’t get to see each other often, but we kept in touch always, sharing each others family stories. If I needed someone to talk to or lean on, she was always there. I will treasure my sweet memories of her always.
Sisters forever!
Loving thoughts go out to all of Hazel’s family. I share your grief.
I love you Hazel and will miss you dearly. ♥️

Hazel was always a special aunt to me and my family. In fact Hazel was the nurse who delivered me. The doctor decided to go to lunch , which was when I decided to come. Thankfully Hazel was there. I spent a lot of time in her home. I have lots of her recipes and every time I make them I think of her.
It was very evident to all who know Hazel how much she loved her family. I am happy to have had Hazel as an aunt❤️
