Obituary of Leo Russell Lewey
Lewey, Leo Russell
With heavy hearts, the family and loved ones share the passing of Leo “Froggy” Russell Lewey, and the beginning of his spirit walk on July 4, 2024. Born on October 18, 1957. Leo was raised by the late Gertrude (Nash) Palmer on the Killarney Road.
It didn't take Leo long to form lifelong friendships and develop one of his natural abilities of being a comedian. Leo was a simple man, who lived a large life. Beside the name Leo he held a few different nicknames; Froggy, Lou, Looped Up Louie. His earlier years were what some would call wild; rough neighbourhoods, fast cars and always up for anything. He always enjoyed tinkering around with cars, trucks, and anything with a motor. Leo's first job was around the age of 15 at Devon Lumber. He tried a few different jobs before devoting his life as a skilled mechanic for 30 plus years and earned a well respected reputation for his quality work. Leo’s most recent career as a grandfather was his greatest joy. He loved joking around, making others laugh and tormenting them. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Leo. Spending time with his loved ones. Cruising in the woods with one of his best buddies. Faithfully watching his "Soaps" or Coronation Street. He loved an evening with friends and a cold "beverage" in hand. At times, Leo was a spitfire and could get Revved up quickly. However, his intentions were truly pure and would help anyone who was in need. His hugs!! I'm sure most would agree, Leo gave the biggest bear hugs.
Leo is survived by many friends; five grandchildren, Madison (Owen), Lucas, Alex, Dominic, and Morgan; one great grandchild, Yukon; the special mention of their mother, Stephanie; and nieces & nephews; his extended Nash family; and many friends who loved him, including a special friend Austina .
Leo is predeceased by his loving partner, Marilyn Vautour; birth mother, Evelyn (Lewey) Stebbins (Raymond Palmer); grandson, Matthew Sommerville; aunts, Glenna Finnemore and Mary Harris.
There will be no service. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later Date. Donations in Leo’s name can be made to the SPCA. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
In Loving Memory
