Obituary of Jackie MacPherson

The passing of Mabel Jacqueline “Jackie” (Hughes) MacPherson of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Harry MacPherson, occurred on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Hospice House Fredericton. Born on May 6, 1935 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Howland) Hughes. Jackie worked for the Canadian Federal Government in Old Age Security and Canada Pension for 38 years. In her younger years, she was involved in Girl Guides. Jackie was a member of the Drive Baptist Church, being apart of the church clothing bank and Willing Hands. She loved spending time with the tenants at 110 McKnight, her game days with long time friends and traveling adventures.

Mom was a special caring person loved by many. It is not goodbye - it's "See you later"

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Lynn MacPherson (Mack McDonald & daughter Kelly) of Harvey; sons, Todd MacPherson (Marlene Hare) of Harvey and Andrew MacPherson (Treena Banks) of Riverview; grandchildren, Craig MacPherson (Angela) of Fredericton, Scott MacPherson (Kasandra Hunking) of Edmonton, Sarah MacPherson (Mario Maillet) of Cocagne, Danielle MacPherson (Dan Maxwell) of Halifax; chosen grandson, Dexter Greer (Celina and children Remi and Lincoln) of Calgary; chosen granddaughter, Kelsey Manderson (Nic LeBlanc) of Riverview; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Abigail and Maddison; chosen great-grandchildren, Adrien, Antoine, Avah, Zoey, Malcolm and Maci; childhood friend, Barb Hillman of Fredericton; special niece, Dorothy Murray of Fredericton; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family; besides her parents and loving husband, Jackie was predeceased by her sisters, Phyllis Burns and Pauline Murray; brothers, Clyde Hughes, Ewart Hughes, Duke Hughes and Edward Hughes.

The family would like to express a special thank you to her special caregivers Dorothy, Carlene, Paulette, Nurses and Doctors at DECH 4 Southwest, caregivers at Brunswick Hall and Hospice House ( Angels on Earth) 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 2-4pm. A Memorial Service will take place at The Drive Baptist Church, 150 Greenwood Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 2pm. Reception to follow the service. A private family Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery, Fredericton, NB.
