Obituary of Mary Eleanor Gilbert

The family of Mary Eleanor (Molly) Gilbert, wife of Henry Gilbert are saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Born in Mouth of Keswick in 1929, she was the daughter of the late Hayward and Laura (Yerxa) Clark.

Along with her husband of 73 years, she is survived by son, Douglas (Joanne) Halifax, NS, and daughter Anne Greer (Gregory) Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Graham Gilbert (Courtney), Benjamin Gilbert (Serri), Patrick Gilbert (Ashley) and Beth Pelham (Mark), all of Halifax, Michael Greer (Sophie), Kate Greer (Matt Davis), Max Greer (Dara MacPherson), all of Fredericton. Also survived by 15 great grandchildren, Abigail, Emily and Rory Gilbert, Porter Gilbert, Vada Naugle, Grady Gilbert, Hattie, Casey and Edie Pelham, Sadie and Hunter Greer, Henry Greer, Charlie, Benjamin and Mary Davis, Also survived by sister Jean O’Leary, Williamsville, NY, and brother Donald Clark, Fredericton; sister in-law, Shirley Clark, Moncton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Finally, we would be remiss not to mention the remaining members of the Friday Morning coffee ladies, whom Mary enjoyed hosting for well over 50 years.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Howard; sister, Evelyn Jewett; sister in-law, Nancy Clark; and brother in-law, Michael O’Leary.

Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 1 – 3 pm followed directly by a Memorial Service at 3 pm. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to Hospice Fredericton or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
