Obituary of Byron Walker Moore

It is with sadness and love that we announce the death of our father, Byron Walker Moore, born in Penniac on July 3, 1933, he passed away May 8, 2024. He was the last surviving son of the “Moore Boys”, Earl, Lewis (Pearl), Garnet (Helen), Maurice (Joan), and Doug (Florence). He was the son of Kenneth John Moore and Elizabeth Alice “Bessie” Christie all from
He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Barbara Moore (Briggs), his children Valerie (Mark Gorham), Stephen (Kim Denton), his grandsons whom he loved with all of his heart, Zane Gorham (Alisha MacDonald), Christopher Moore, his great grandson Sylas Gorham and several nieces and nephews.
Dad was a proud member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, he taught and developed the tools for the institute and as well served as the Regional Director of Assessment for York/Sudbury before his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Atlantic Salmon Association and was an expert on riparian rights. He served his community as a leader of the Skyline Acres Battalion youth group and played hockey in the Topmar Gents Hockey Team for many years.

We will miss his wit and dry humour, his bad puns, political discussions, his love of family, kindness to animals, passion for nature and collections of tools from Canadian Tire, always buy three of each tool, one to lose, one for Stephen to lose and one to keep in the garage. Words to live by.
