My condolences to Joan and the family. One thing I remember; I was always met with a smile and a handshake, to which I was the only one on the receiving end. Louie would wrap his big hand around mine and move my arm up and down :) I could not grasp his big mitt with my hand and shake as well, therefore I could only reciprocate with a smile and Hello Louie :)

Joan, Jeff and Kim,
My condolences on the passing of Louie. He was a great guy who left so many great memories to all of us.
Growing up, Louis was a part of our family as far back as I can remember. He was always taking us boys along with him - fishing , hunting or wherever he was going and telling stories the whole time like only Louie could.
And boy, did Louie like to tell stories. And he was good at it. I remember how he would get up to leave mum’s kitchen, but with his hand on the doorknob he’d start into another tale and be there another hour, holding onto the doorknob the whole time.
I played hockey with Louie. As a teenager playing in a men’s league, Louie was my protector. Later in life, when we looked back, we joked that he was the Marty McSorley to my Wayne Gretzky.
I had a great visit with Louie when I was home for Brian’s funeral. He acknowledged that he was slowing down some but I could see that something that made Louie, Louie was still there as strong as ever.
Louie was a great person who gave so much to so many. He added a lot to my life. I will miss him.

Having worked with the Wilsons going on 24 years now, there are so many stories and memories I wouldn't know where to begin.
Louie had a strong "rough & tough" work ethic with a jovial and comedic attitude. He was always telling jokes and poking fun around the barnyard.
He would take me aside often to talk about the business and confide in me how much he adored and admired his wife, and how proud he was of his children & grandson and their accomplishments. On a regular basis, he let me know that he appreciated the work I did, and treated me like family.
One fond memory I would like to share was back late last summer. Midway stage in his dementia. He came into the barn looking for Joan, saying no one was home. I could tell he was a little panicked. I knew Kim had gone out and Joan was home. It was nap time, so I assumed he got up without her knowing. Assuring him that Joan was indeed home, having a rest, I walked him to the house and he led me around to the front porch where we sat and talked for the next hour and a half. (goofing off, ha ha)
He settled down and proceeded to tell me stories about everything. Hunting (his favorite), land & property, farming, family business, and love & loss. We had some good chuckles! This is how I will remember Mr. Wilson, may he rest in peace.
"Hey, hey, good lookin'".....
My sincerest condolences for this huge loss to family and friends.
Love Sarah

To Joan, Jeff, and Kim,
My deepest sympathy to you for the loss of Louie, and for the illness which took him from you. I remember Louie from our elementary school days at the Devon School (now Devon Middle School). For some reason when I think of knowing him then, I always get a vision of us all playing on the grounds in front of the school at recess or noon. So, so long ago. I have seen him off and on over the years and followed his moves to North Tay and back to Fredericton. Kim and Jeff were students at the Stanley School when I taught there. The last conversation I had with Louie was when I worked at the returning office, located then in the Brookside Mall, and he and Joan came in to vote in a provincial election. As I read his obituary, it seems that you will have many wonderful memories and stories to comfort you and warm your hearts in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Sandra MacBean

Louie was a great friend to me and my daughter Julie Thompson as she was always at the barn. She grew to love the horses as much as I did. He was her inspiration and friend. Joan was always coaching all the kids at the barn. He will be missed by so many. He touched a lot of hearts with his stories and generosity towards the kids.
Rest in Peace from Susan Julie and Andrea

I am so sorry Joan, Kim, and Jeff. Louie was such a special man to so many. I cannot imagine growing up on the farm without Louie being a part of it. From fishing, going to visit him at the camp, or just sitting and listening to him tell stories to gram and grandpa. I know how he and dad loved each other and were such close friends. I take some comfort in knowing they are reunited. I can just imagine the hunting stories and tall tales they would be telling. My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. Sending lots of love.
Here is a picture I love of dad and Louie after moose hunting.

I have so many memories of Louis, but the ones that stand out to me are all the jokes and laughter that happened everyday at Royal Road Riding Stables.
Louis chasing all us barn rats with the cattle prod, all the trails we took out together, and all the horses I was told that were "trained to death" whether they were or not.
Louis gave me a fantastic job and was the most amazing boss I ever had. Working with Louis, Joan, Jeff & Kim was the very best time of my life. Louis always made me feel part of his family and I feel so lucky that I was able to learn so much from him about the world and about myself. I will miss him terribly.
My deepest condolences to his family. Louis was a wonderful person who touched the lives of many. May you find strength and solace in the memories you shared together.

Rest in peace Louis, you are now reunited with Uncle Brian...2 great men that were a big part of mine and many kids lives passing through the 2 farms in North Tay growing up and later on in our lives. ❤ I have fond memories of fishing, hunting and farming.
I remember and tell the story to many of how you would take the kids fishing in the Tay in back of the barns, the kids we would eb excited why you walked behind us casting a fly rod and catching trout pretty much every cast!
I also remember fondly of us all going to a corn filed to hunt the bears . Me being a young pup I decided to go off on my own into the corn field and scare out the bears! When i came out of that field you looked at me and said - What are you doing you could get shot! . Funny now but at the time you were dead on with that statement. THAT TAUGHT ME TO BE A SMART HUNTER.
These recollections and many more will be cherished and you will always have a place in my heart . You are a fantastic man . You will be missed. Tom Nicholls.

Wow... what to say... whisker burns, pretending to hit our toes with hammers...belly bumps.. all us barn rats were subjected to all of those...
Louie also taught us work ethic,
Sportsmanship, and all about never giving up! "Are ya hurt or just scared? Get back on that horse!!"
Our memories will be cherished forever! Most of us barn rats still keep in touch all of these years later!!
Rest Easy Big Lou!!
