Obituary of Velma Irene MacDonald

The family of Velma MacDonald (nee Connors) announces her passing on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Frederick Hall, Shannex in Fredericton at the age of 94.

She was born in Upper Blackville, New Brunswick, on September 27, 1929.

She was predeceased by her parents, Murray and Doris Connors; one brother, Byron Connors; grandchildren, Jeremy Albright and Michaela MacDonald; and her longtime friend, Donald Beaton.

She is survived by her children, Richard and Wendy MacDonald; her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Bradley Albright, Rebecca, Holly, Gabriel and Michael MacDonald; and her great grandchildren, Ethan, Laurissa, Ella and Lily Albright. Jaden, Kayden, Christian, Micky and Hazen MacDonald, Harrison and Brea MacDonald.

Velma will be greatly missed by her sisters, Margaret Pollock, Marion Urquhart, Marsha Vickers and Roxena-Lee Burke; and her brothers, William, Leonard and Robert Connors; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Velma resided in Fredericton and in Lower Sackville, NS and she enjoyed her summers at the “Ponderosa” in Upper Blackville.

She was a lifelong member of the New Zion Baptist Church in Upper Blackville. She also attended Grace Memorial United Baptist Church in Fredericton.

Velma was a true supporter of animals. She had many pets over the years, which she loved, cared for and spoiled every day of their lives.

Visitation will be held at the New Zion Baptist Church Upper Blackville NB on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm with her Funeral to follow at 2:00 pm.

A light lunch will be served after the funeral downstairs. Everyone is welcome to attend.
