Obituary of Rita Marie Perrott
The family of Rita Marie (Firlotte) Perrott are sad to announce her death surrounded by her family at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB on Friday, March 15, 2024. Rita was born in Jacquet River, Restigouche Co, NB to the late George and Mary (Guitard) Firlotte on July 11, 1931.
Mom lived in the home she and dad built together in Charlo for over 70 years. She was an active member of Saint John United Church in Dalhousie, NB.
Rita is survived by her five children, Lyle (Cathy) Parrott of Red Deer, AB, Susan (Richard) of Fredericton, Sheila (Tony) of Charlo, Judy (Jeff) of Hillsdale, New Jersey and Barry of Red Deer, AB; grandchildren, Jamie (Sarah) Shea, Russell (Carrie) Parrott, Ashley Laessig, Alexandra Laessig; great-grandchildren, Mathew Shea, Brooklyn Shea and Nathan Parrott; step-grandchildren, Tracey Mattice and Karina Canfield; and step-great-grandchildren, Emily and Tiegan Mattice; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Harold Perrott; companion, Albert MacLean; and grandson, Stephen Parrott. Also, by sisters, Evangeline, Geraldine, Theresa, Marjorie, Madelaine; and brothers, Chester, Leslie, Robert and Norman.
We always said that Mom should have been in the medical field as she was such a compassionate, caring person helping everyone and anyone when they needed care. She loved to cook and baked the best cookies. Her cookie jars were always full when she knew she was having company even offering cookies to strangers who would come to make house repairs. Her home-made bread was always something to come home to.
Mom was an active member of her church community and helped with the United Church thrift shop for over 20 years. She proudly earned her black belt in Tai Chi and we all enjoyed her showing us her moves. She made many quilts which we all have on our beds and displayed in our homes.
She always wanted to be fashionably dressed and enjoyed dancing and music. She had the greenest thumb, her flowers always flourished in her care both inside and outdoors.
Mom, we will miss you so much but may you rest peacefully. You will be forever in our hearts and we will have a smile on our faces remembering the fun and laughter we shared.
The family would like to thank Paradise Villa for their excellent care and attention to mom during her stay.
A Graveside Service will be held in the summer at the Dalhousie Riverview Cemetery Extension, New Mills, NB. Details to be determined at a later date. Donations can be made to a charity of their choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
