Obituary of Susan Elaine Leslie

On March 7, 2024 Susan packed up her camera gear and with a little glass of Fireball she slipped into the next room. After two years of struggling with unresolved illness Susan Elaine Leslie of Fredericton, NB, wife of Penny Lofstrom passed away despite the best efforts of the ICU team (for whom we cannot thank enough for their support) at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 30th, 1955 in Blacks Harbour, NB, the eldest of three children of the late Malcolm and Irene (Hubbard) Leslie.

Susan will be missed forever by her baby brother Jeffrey & his wife Faith of Florida, with whom she and Penny enjoyed the beaches and warmth of the state & their love of Mickey for 12 winters; her best friend of 54 years from Connecticut, Jackie, with whom she spoke or texted with daily including their unique goodnights; her New Brunswick best friends Wendy, Moe and Susan of 35 plus years that always found the time to connect no matter what; her favourite Cousins upon who she could depend on for laughter and support & the occasional picnic by the sea. There are many others who fall somewhere between family and friends, who will miss her unique presence and her huge heart.

Susan spent her entire working career with NB Power and felt very lucky to have had over 35 years with them when she retired. Being able to retire early meant that she and Penny could enjoy more of their garden, more peanut butter sandwiches, more of the sunshine and more adventures.

There is not doubt, heaven for Susan means when she is not at the beach, or enjoying a round of golf, that she’ll be found on a ride on lawn mower.

In keeping with Susan’s wishes there will be a private gathering on a beach under some palm trees at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Fredericton Food Bank or to a charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
