Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Smith
SMITH, ELIZABETH ANNE
The passing of Elizabeth “Anne” Smith of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Terry Smith, occurred on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Shannex - Neill Hall. Born on January 9, 1950 in Fredericton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth “Betty” (Stevens) Turnbull.
Anne is survived by her sons, Todd Smith (Kelly) and Sean Smith (Mary Beth Pickel); grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Emily Underhill (Brendan), Marshall Smith and Christopher Smith; sister-in-law, Phyllis Turnbull; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Anne was predeceased by her son, Andrew Smith; siblings, Ralph Turnbull and Timothy Turnbull.
An avid skier and golfer Anne greatly enjoyed spending time at her beloved Crabbe Mountain, working as a ski instructor she was able to share her passion with many new skiers. She loved the après ski socializing as well, listening to a local band with a glass of red wine in the Thirsty Boot lounge, and entertaining and feeding friends and family in her cozy chalet. Her summers were spent with her “lake family” at Green Acres on Grand Lake.
Anne spent her professional life in the service of those most vulnerable, as a social worker at Family Enrichment and Counselling and as a victim witness counsellor with the Fredericton Police Force. She advised, counselled and helped those in need and undoubtedly saved many lives and families throughout her career.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11am with Pastor Chris Walker officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick, Liberty Lane (for Women and their children) or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
