Obituary of Douglas Roy Urquhart

The passing of Douglas Roy Urquhart of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at York Care Centre in Fredericton. He was the son of the late Gordon and Gertrude (Weir) Urquhart. Doug lived most of his life in Whites Cove, residing with his family in the home he built. He was a faithful employee of the Daily Gleaner for 42 years. In his retirement years, he could often be found working in his garage, doing odd jobs for people in the community and taking care of his lawn, but he especially enjoyed a good card game. He was an active member of the Jemseg Lions Club and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand where needed.

Doug is survived by his wife, Isabel Bernice (Williams); daughters, Debbie (Dwayne) Bishop and Lisa Perry; and son, Tony (Jane) Urquhart. He is also survived by grandchildren, Cody Bishop, Corey (Ashten) Perry, Katelyn Perry (Juan), Caleb (Michele) and Luke Urquhart; as well as great-grandchildren, Spencer Perry and Mateo Fernandez. Additionally, he is survived by brothers, Donald (Debbie), David (Donna); and sister, Judith Urquhart.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Hovey; and brother, Kenneth Wayne Urquhart.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive , Fredericton , NB on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 1 to 2 pm, with a Celebration of Life to follow immediately at 2 pm with Pastor Chris Bennett officiating. Interment will take place in Whites Cove United Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
