Lorna was such a warm, welcoming and gentle soul, I feel blessed that our paths crossed. I have a favourite story about Lorna, that still, just makes me smile when I retell it. There was a quilt show up at the Taymouth community centre, and Lorna had one of her quilts on display. Beside each quilt was a little explanation about the making of the quilt. Lorn's note said, (as I remember) - I started working on this quilt over the first winter we were married. Merlin used to help me cut up the fabric and one day he said , "Lorna why are you bothering to cut all this material into little pieces, just to sew it back together again "? :) But she said, we kept at it and in the spring when the quilt was done, --- I was expecting my first baby! :) Lovely lady, lovely family - God bless you all!

To all of the Estes family, we wish to express our sincere condolences. Lorna was a treasure and our memories of her are many. She was truly a woman of faith in a very real Saviour. How she and Merlin showed their love for one another, as well as love for each visitor! So wonderful to think of them being together again in Heaven. The last time I saw her, Utah Banks and I were in to visit. It was such a precious time! May your memories of her keep her close and may the Lord be your comforter.

We only got to visit with all of you for a few days each year when our family travelled "home" . We were always greeted with hugs and exclamations of how we'd grown. We would play with our cousins, help with some chores, enjoy a lively discussion around the kitchen table and the time would fly by. Aunt Lorna and Uncle Merlin created such a welcome place for us and I have many wonderful memories. I am so grateful for our times together. She will be missed.

My deepest condolences to my cousins and their families. Aunt Lorna gave such strength to our family when we came to New Brunswick to visit. She taught us to give, open our hearts and homes, to be kind and to always hold family tight in your heart. She will be missed but I will carry my lessons learned and cherished memories of her, Uncle Merlin, my Mum and Dad with me always. Rest now Aunt Lorna, we got this.

I am so very sorry to learn of Lorna’s passing. My heart goes out to you all, Ray, Robin, Star, Ruby, Roberta, Rose and your family’s. I have many fond memories of your Mom from, my early childhood and onward. It was wonderful to visit the family homestead and know that you were always welcomed, your Mom made sure of that. There was always laughter, delicious smells from her baking and a sense of comfort being in her presence. Sunday school, Church Christmas concerts, WI suppers, Youth Club at the Upper Durham hall, these are just a few of the memories I have of your beloved Mom. My thoughts and love is with you all.

We want to express our sympathy to Lorna's family at her home going. I appreciated Lorna's simple and strong faith and her conscientious and practical expression of her faith. Her pleasant demeanor and her smiles made her a welcome friend. We shared in the ministry of the little Nashwaak Village Church where Lorna gave her energy 100%. Special thoughts for Roberta. Megan, Gordie and David with whom we worked most closely in Douglas Baptist. We are praying for you all. Jerry and Allana Horsman.

So sorry to hear that Aunt Lorna has died. I have many memories of being at “ the mansion on the hill” as Dad called it. We always had fun there. Aunt Lorna knew everyone and could tell you about almost anything. I remember Aunt Lorna delivering the mail. I remember haying. I remember the quilts. I am so glad that my sisters and I had lunch with Aunt Lorna when we came to Durham to bury our parents in October. She will be missed.

I met Lorna when I started attending the Nashwaak United Baptist church. She was a great mentor and guided me in my church duties. She was a warrior for God and her love for him showed. I will definitely miss her and her wisdom. I knew I could always call her if things were weighing me down. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Lorna and my mother Florence Schriver were great friends. As her daughter Star and I also became. I have wonderful memories of staying with Star in the summer and like all the kids helping Lyle with haying. And eating Lorna’s wonderful home made bread. Lorna and Mom visited me in California when I lived there. Oh the fun they had . From picking oranges to admiring all the different flowers. And chasing after whatever celebrities we could track down. They loved Bob Barker and the “Price is Right” .
I will miss seeing the “Mayor” of Durham and her loving greetings and sweet laugh.
