The passing of Gary Lynn Bird of Fredericton, NB, husband of Nancy Sue (Cloney) Bird, occurred on January 13, 2024 at York Care Centre with Lewy Body Dementia. Born on April 1, 1951 in Devon, NB and was aways a Devon Boy, he was the son of the late Omar and Geraldine (Glendenning) Bird.
Gary worked at NB Power at Mactaquac Dam for 33 years. He loved his job there. After retirement he volunteered at York Sunbury Search and Rescue where he made many friends especially at the Pancake Breakfast at Kings Landing. It is with great sadness that Gary did not live long enough to see the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup, he was a devoted fan. Gary was a Beaver Leader and coached softball for Andrea, baseball for Bradley and was a FHS football fan, when Bradley played.
Besides his wife Nancy Sue of 44 years, he was survived by his two children, Andrea and Bradley (Noelia); four grandchildren; four dear sisters, Carolyn (Del), Margie, Debbie (deceased), Judy, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Debbie.
I would like to thank our family Dr. M. Kenney for his great care and compassion. York Care givers at “Birch Grove” are the best; they go above and beyond. Thank you; our neighbours, friends, and family that have been there with us on this journey, Thank you.
