To Arthur’s Family & Friends,
FAREWELL TO ARTHUR
I am truly sorry for the family in the loss of Arthur.
Reading his obituary it brought to mind an example of his humour with his special touch to it, only this particular prank was a payback, and it was directed at me!
A crew of us left Geary headed out to the army grounds to engage in some Saturday morning four wheeling. Stopping for a ‘water’ break we noticed an excavator with a clear glass cab.
Lorraine said”that’s Art’s machine.”
I, with another partner in crime, Colleen, decided to pretty-up his machine, without signatures of course!
A bright pink tube of lipstick just happened to be in one of my pockets and out it came.
We climbed onto the machine and printed big pink lipstick hearts and oxo’s over all the cab windows.
Then we all continued on with our ride.
The following weekend we were all heading out to Debbie and Art’s camp. We never heard a word about the pink hearts and kisses on Art’s digger.
As I recall there were a lot of us there sitting out in the warmth of the sun, sharing stories having a cold ‘pop’. This was a time when cell phones were few and connection worse especially out in the camp’s area.
All of a sudden Art called out from the cabin holding a black phone receiver in his hand-the 60’s model.
“Cathy, there’s a call for you,” he said.
Both puzzled and a bit worried, I ran to the camp door where Art passed the receiver to me. I had no idea something was up, but Lorraine and Heather did.
“Hello, Hello??” I said.
A mischievous grin spread over Art’s face and it dawned on me-there was no way this phone could’ve hooked up to any connection way out there! I walked the walk of shame down the steps to a chorus of laughter and away from Arthur’s lipstick payback!
Rest In Peace Arthur.

Art was such a great guy, always in a happy mood and always teasing and pulling "pranks". He made going to work more fun. And he wasn't a bad bowler either.
He will be missed.

Art will certainly be missed. Big man, big grin, big heart…and a very big sense of humour. I’ll always remember the meals enjoyed at Eileen’s house. Inevitably, I was always seated next to Art. Uh oh, they got me sitting next to Art again. Quick! Think up a ‘zinger’ to fire back! I never could. But loved every minute of those meals, and all the smiles and laughter Art brought to that table.
Rest in Peace Art. ❤️
