Obituary of Barbara Jean McGivney

It is with great sadness the family of Barbara Jean McGivney announces her passing on December 30,2023 surrounded by her loved ones.  Barbara was born on July 29, 1946, to the late Thelma and Clair Dorcas.

Barbara enjoyed traveling to her winter home in Florida for many years and taking trips down south with her family. She enjoyed her day trips to Houlton and Presque Isle ME with the girls and playing bingo. She especially loved her “town days” to shop every Friday.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Richard McGivney (45 years); children Natalie (Eldon) McCoy, Todd (Crishna) McGivney; grandchildren, Alex McCoy, Ashley (Thomas) Hossack and Lucas McGivney; special great grandson, Kolton Hossack; sisters, Marjorie (late Ronald) McCoy, Elaine (Clifford) Gowan and Coleen Laagland; brothers, David (Judy) Dorcas, and Brian Dorcas.

A Celebration of Life service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday January 8, 2024, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
