Bryce departed peacefully from his beloved family on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital with Michael, Caroline and Meta by his side. He was born in Taxis River, New Brunswick on January 22nd,1935, the 9th child to Berton and Emma (Conroy) Bruce.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Meta (Boulay, Rideout); children, Shelley Sansom (Brock), JC Boulay (Susan), Michael Boulay (Caroline); grandchildren, Matthew Sansom (Michelle), Vanessa Talmage (Darrin), Kathryn Sansom (Ben), Justin Beattie, Jennifer Bruce (Danny), Brandon Bruce (Alyssa), Chelsey Bruce (Preston), Stephanie Pond (Curtis), Christopher White (Crystal), Elizabeth White (Mike), Benjamin Boulay; 25 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Berton and Emma Bruce; 9 siblings; and son, Brian Bruce.
Bryce worked as a salesman and sales manager for Caterpillar Tractors and Equipment. He devoted a great deal of time to volunteering and serving his community as a Gideon, Shriner, Deacon and held leadership positions on a number of Boards. He had a strong commitment to working hard and trained his family to follow this example; he had zero tolerance for laziness. From his early years to his end, he had a passion for drag racing and cars.
The family would like to thank the Dr Feltmate, Dr Kenny and all other doctors, nurses and staff at the DECRH, the staff at St Anne’s Court and Maria Pfinder, who provided care and comfort to him during this last year. He was appreciative of this care, as we all navigated our way through the challenges faced as our mortal bodies began to fail.
Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel. As Bryce requested, there will be a Graveside Service at Parkers Ridge Cemetery on Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at 11 am with reception to follow at Gateway of Hope Assembly in Boiestown. Personal Condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the Gideons, Woodsmen’s Museum, Royal Canadian Legion, Normandy Branch #78 or charity of the donor’s choice
